HOW THIS TEST WORKS
How Do I Have Anger Issues? works
How version core-v1 is scored, and what it can and cannot tell you.
How it is scored
Having "anger issues" is not a single diagnosis. Researchers study anger as both a passing state and a lasting trait, and look at how it is expressed outward or held in (Spielberger, 1988). Research shows that venting anger tends to make it stronger (Bushman, 2002), and that anger treatments help most people (Del Vecchio and O'Leary, 2004).
This test looks at five areas: quick to anger, how strong it gets, how it comes out, holding on to it, and slow to cool down. Each area has eight sentences. Half describe the anger habit and half describe the opposite, so you cannot get a high score just by agreeing with everything. Each answer gives 0 to 4 points.
Each area score runs from 0 to 100. Your overall score is the average of the five areas. Scores are read as Low (0 to 33), Medium (34 to 66), or High (67 to 100). These levels show how you answered. They do not compare you with other people.

What it cannot tell you
This test is for learning about yourself. It is not a diagnosis, and it cannot tell you whether someone is safe or dangerous. Do not use it for legal, custody, work, or hiring decisions about anyone.
People often underrate their own anger, and your answers can change with stress and what is going on in your life. If people close to you say your anger is a problem, take that seriously, whatever your score.
This version has not yet been tested with a large group of people, so we do not yet know how accurate it is.
