HOW THIS TEST WORKS

How What Are My Big Five Traits? works

How version core-v2 is scored, and what it can and cannot tell you.

How it is scored

This test measures the Big Five personality traits. The Big Five is the most widely studied model of personality. Researchers found the same five broad traits again and again, in many languages and countries (Goldberg, 1990; McCrae and Costa, 1987; John and Srivastava, 1999).

The five traits are openness, conscientiousness, extraversion, agreeableness, and emotional stability. Researchers often call the low end of emotional stability neuroticism.

The test has 50 sentences, 10 for each trait. Half describe one end of the trait and half describe the other, so agreeing with everything does not push your scores up. Each answer gives 0 to 4 points to its trait. Each trait score runs from 0 to 100 and is read as Low (0 to 33), Medium (34 to 66), or High (67 to 100).

PersonalitySite.com wrote all of these sentences and descriptions. They are not copied from any other test.

What it cannot tell you

This test is for learning about yourself. It is not a diagnosis, and it is not a test of mental health. Do not use it to hire, fire, or judge people.

Levels show how you answered. They do not compare you with other people. This version has not yet been tested with a large group, so we do not yet know how accurate it is.

Your answers can change with your mood, your age, and your life. If a result does not feel right, trust what you know about yourself.
