HOW THIS TEST WORKS

How How Charismatic Am I? works

How version core-v1 is scored, and what it can and cannot tell you.

How it is scored

Researchers describe charisma as being both likable and able to influence people (Tskhay and others, 2018). Warmth is one of the first things people judge about someone (Fiske and others, 2007), asking follow-up questions makes people like us more (Huang and others, 2017), and even a phone on the table can make a talk feel less close (Przybylski and Weinstein, 2013). A study found that charisma habits, such as stories and showing feeling, can be taught (Antonakis and others, 2011).

This test looks at five areas: warmth, full attention, calm confidence, expressiveness, and making others feel valued. Each area has eight sentences. Four describe a charisma habit and four describe the opposite. Each answer gives 0 to 4 points. Each area score runs from 0 to 100, and your overall score is the average of the five.

What it cannot tell you

This test is for learning about yourself. It is not a diagnosis, and it does not measure how attractive, popular, or successful you are. Do not use it to hire, fire, or judge people.

How you come across can change with the setting, your mood, and the people. Ideas about charisma also differ across cultures. Others may see you differently than you see yourself.

This version has not yet been tested with a large group of people, so we do not yet know how accurate it is.
